Sport NZ Transgender Guidelines publication

On the 6th December 2022, Sport NZ released its Transgender guidelines to support the sport sector review its policies and practices in relation to inclusion.

School Sport NZ welcomes the guidance provided by Sport NZ. We will read through the guidelines closely and consider them in relation to the school sport community. We will work alongside Rangatahi, schools, Sport NZ, and our partners to understand what our community’s needs are and develop an approach that responds to these. We believe that diversity and inclusion enriches school sport, it is from this principle that we will begin consultation.

The guidelines are here to view.

Mana Taurite has been identified as a guiding principle for School Sport NZ within our draft strategic plan. Mana Taurite encompasses a broad range of rangatahi who may be disadvantaged or marginalised through ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or physical or intellectual disability. Mana Taurite acknowledges that within this space we support the removal of barriers to allow all to participate and enjoy the benefits of school sport.
