SPORTS MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

There are several electronic Sports Management Systems available for you to use to efficiently manage the sporting functions in your school. All of these will allow you to record player, coach and team information including names, contact details, fees, uniforms and much more as well as print lists that you require from time to time.

As an added bonus, all the systems will also accurately produce the School Representation Census required by School Sport NZ and your RSD each November at the push of a button.

There are 2 types of system available, Student Management systems which form a part of your schools management of all student data and information and stand-alone systems which will separately manage just your sporting data and information.

Where it is available, we strongly recommend that you use the schools student management system ahead of the stand-alone options.

MANAGING SECONDARY SCHOOL SPORT

Whether it’s on the court, on the field, in and on the water, or on our streets and backyards, sport is part of our DNA. And our time at school is often when we will shape the experiences, skills, attitudes and friends that will develop our love of sport and games and set us up for a lifetime in sport and recreation. More than 145,000 secondary students pull on the school jersey or play regularly in school competitions every year and they are supported by 10,500 school staff, 6000 of them teacher coaches.

This Guide is designed to make your role easier by pointing you to examples of good practice, case studies, templates and tools, to help you do your job. Some of the information you need is in this guide; some has been collated from others in similar positions who have developed great ideas and followed them through; and some is yet to be developed but will be added to the online version of Running Secondary School Sport as we source it. Thanks for your commitment to developing a love of sport in our young people and for your fantastic work in putting together programmes, events and support that will ensure sport continues to be a feature of the school years of our young people, and a significant part of New Zealand’s sporting culture.
